Military Reporters & Editors (MRE) is appalled by the Trump administration’s decision to ban multiple news outlets from the White House grounds. Resident press corps have enormous value and play a vital role in delivering information to the public. But it’s now time for news organizations and Washington, DC press corps to assess whether it’s worth their time and reputation to be the foil for the president’s barbs.
Should this ban remain in place, the White House press corps must unite in solidarity and reevaluate how best to serve the American people, whether that’s from the briefing room or their bureaus in our nation’s capital.
Despite the Trump administration’s efforts to hide from scrutiny, the reporting will continue, as the Pentagon press corps has showed over the last year since Secretary Hegseth kicked them out of the building.
