Patricia Kime and Chris Gordon join MRE Board of Directors

Military Reporters & Editors adds two new directors to help guide the organization representing journalists covering the military into the future

WASHINGTON, June 12 – Military Reporters & Editors board of directors named independent journalist Patricia Kime and Air & Space Forces Magazine Pentagon Editor Chris Gordon to the board as MRE continues to grow and thrive.

“We are thrilled that these two talented journalists have joined our ranks to help us advance our mission representing those covering the military, national security, troops, and veterans,” said MRE President Howard Altman. “We look forward to their energy and insights in very challenging times.”

Patricia Kime is a journalist and author who has covered military and veterans issues over more than three decades, focusing on personnel issues and health care, including combat-related illnesses and injuries.

Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, Military.com, Defense News, Military Times, Kaiser Health News, and elsewhere. HillVets selected her as one of the top media influencers in the veterans’ space in 2015. In 2020, she received the top prize in the 2019 Awards for Excellence in Health Care Journalism for coverage of military health care by the Association of Health Care Journalists. Most recently, she was awarded honorable mention by the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation for National Defense Reporting in 2022 and she received the top honor – The Joe Galloway Award – for distinguished journalism from Military Reporters & Editors in 2023.

A former analyst with the U.S. intelligence community, she holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the University of Virginia.

As Air & Space Forces Magazine’s Pentagon Editor, Chris Gordon leads coverage of the Pentagon, senior Department of Defense leadership, U.S. military operations, policy, and national security for one of the top defense publications online and in print.

His coverage goes beyond the Department of the Air Force and includes the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, all military services, the White House, the National Security Council, the State Department, and other topics related to national security. 

He also serves as a part-time author of the popular Daily Report newsletter. Gordon often travels abroad with senior defense and military leaders and regularly interviews them to gain their insights for his readers.

Patricia takes the place of board member Carla Babb who assumed the role of Secretary upon the departure of Susan Katz Keating in April, while Chris Gordon replaces Geoff Ziezulewicz who resigned in May.
