Job Opening (July 27, 2007)

MILITARY REPORTER [job code 1608]:
The Virginian-Pilot is seeking a military reporter. We are a 200,000 circulation daily newspaper based in Norfolk, Va., serving the residents of southeastern Virginia, the Eastern Shore of Virginia and northeastern North Carolina.

Known for our visual storytelling, risk-taking design and compelling narrative, we are also the proud recipients of three Pulitzer Prizes. This year, in fact, we were finalists in the explanatory journalism category with our six-part series for "Blackwater: Inside America's Private Army."

Here's what we have open:

MILITARY REPORTER [job code 1608]: This position involves writing breaking news, features, enterprise and investigative stories about active duty military throughout Hampton Roads and the community of veterans. There is heavy emphasis on watchdog journalism. This is a high-visibility team because covering the military is one of The Virginian-Pilot's most critical missions. Must have a bachelor's degree and five years reporting experience at a daily newspaper. Solid experience covering the military for a daily newspaper preferred.

If you're interested, submit your application online at (www.TheVirginianPilot.com/careers), using job code 1608.
